Building Trust

Poom is cultivating a safe space for generous bakers to share their creations freely and creatively with real neighbors. Please adhere to the following guidelines to help build a more trustworthy community!

Do’s

  • Engage at your own risk - you are responsible for all of your interactions online and offline. We recommend that you take appropriate measures to keep you and the community safe.

Post ANYTHING homebaked - from breads to cakes, cookies, pastry, to one-of-a-kind treats from your home country, let your neighbors know your baking skills!

Post when it’s FRESH - the best practice is posting baked goods as soon as you’ve baked them. Nothing beats fresh-from-the-oven cookies. Please keep them refrigerated until Pick-up!

Post your BEST piece, not a leftover - Gift the best of what we’ve baked, not a leftover food. Set aside your POOM item first, post it, enjoy the rest of your baked goods while receiving requests from your neighbors!

Keep everything legal - check your federal, state, and local laws for free foodsharing.**

Must be min. 13 years old.

Be HONEST about your identity and your postings - building a trusted community must be grounded on transparency. Please fully disclose details about your postings, answer questions with clarity, and keep your profile REAL.

Claim RESPONSIBLY, no hoarding - you can always come back tomorrow! Give a chance for other neighbors to win free baked goods on POOM. In fact, share the post with your friends to spread neighborly action!

ASK questions for clarification - If you are unsure about certain details of a baked good, ask questions to your baker directly. It’s better to ask than assuming the unknowns.

Show GRATITUDE through reviews -honor generous bakers for sharing their talent, time, labor, and resources with the community by leaving a review on their profile. It means a lot.

Practice BOTH sharing and receiving - you don’t have to be a seasoned baker to share on POOM. If you’ve received baked goods from. our community, try sharing it back with a neighbor on POOM or vice versa! It’s all about practicing until it becomes a second nature to us.

BUILD TRUST - Building trust takes time, effort, accountability, and commitment. It can start from interacting with your closest neighbors to establish a close-knit network of bread-sharing community.

Dont's

Dont’s

  • DO NOT post illegal baked goods -research your local laws to define ‘illegal baked goods’. Fully disclose your ingredients on the post and to each neighbor to minimize potential risks.

DO NOT create a fake account - it’s important that your profile reflects YOU, not your company, metaverse character, nor your dog. Let’s keep it real.

DO NOT post what you wouldn’t eat. - Poom is only for foodsharing and non-food items are not allowed to be posted. Also, if it’s old or bad that you can’t eat it yourself, do not offer them as a gift.

DO NOT share personal information - we don’t recommend sharing your phone number, social security number, exact address, credit card number, etc. Try to utilize Poom’s chat for interactions.

DO NOT spread violence, harassment, or threats with your speech and action - No hate speech, harassing a neighbor both online and in-person is strictly prohibited.

DO NOT meet in discrete locations - we recommend meeting in public spaces, i.e. building lobby, street intersections, parks, etc to share and receive your goods.
